As Catedrais Beach is not only a natural spectacle—it is also a protected area due to its high ecological, geological, and scenic value. Several protection designations recognize its importance and ensure its preservation for future generations.
A Natural Monument of International Importance
Declared a Natural Monument in 2005, As Catedrais Beach is part of the Natura 2000 Network as a Special Area of Conservation (SAC) and has also been designated a Site of Special Protection for Natural Values.
Since 2007, it has been included in the Río Eo, Oscos and Terras de Burón Biosphere Reserve—an acknowledgment that highlights the harmony between nature and human activity in this exceptional environment.
